May 24 Ona Speedway results

The Greg Chandler Frame and Body Shop 200 “was perhaps our best race yet,” said promoter Scott Pierson Jr., and added there were more than 400 fans attending.

The Sport Mod series seems to be growing quickly. Last year, there were only 3 registered and were more exhibition than racing. On Saturday, there were 8 cars on the track, and Pierson has been told more are expected at the June 7 race night.

You have to wonder how the 6 Cylinder class will shake out with a future Mr. and Mrs. duking it out on the track. As good a place as any to settle any argument Pierson and fiancée Alaina Harvey encounter.

In the pink and white Barbie Car, she won this round taking third place away from him by 18 inches. Girl power! Sorry, Scott, I have to side with my gender.

Is winning by attrition just as good as beating the field? Who knows; it’s still a W in the column. Jeremy Cooper won the division because every other car crashed out. As they say on TV, “and no one got hurt.”

Probably the most popular moment of the night was Late Model winner Greg Carby giving a shout out to his home, the Bluegrass State and sought out any child from Kentucky to join him in Victory Square. A little boy from Ashland popped up, had his picture taken with Carby, who promptly gave the child his winner’s trophy.

Yup, goodwill in abundance.

So, without further delay, here are the winners from the races on Greg Chandler Frame and Body Shop 200 night at Ona Speedway. Thanks, Scott Pierson for sending the results along. I got too wrapped up in the rivalries to note actual results.

It's gonna get good as the nights heat up all summer long! Just remember this, drivers, keep your helmet on if you want to "discuss" an incident with another driver.
