For your weekend planning


It's Thursday. The winds have died down and the rain stopped.

The weekend holds car shows and car racing. So, where should we go ?

The action seems to be all on Saturday, and here it is -

Paintsville Cruiz’n - Downtown Paintsville, Ky., begins at 4 p.m. Mopar Mania Night. Sponsored by Paintsville Tourism.

Ona Speedway - ARCA Series Truck Racing ARCA Trucks, Late Models, U-Cars. The Truck Series will feature Bobby Dale Earnhardt of Charleston, the oldest grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt. Gates open at 5 p.m.; autograph session 6 p.m., ARCA race 8 p.m.; other racing starts at 7 p.m. Cost $18 for adults, $10 for ages 11-17 and free for ages 10 and under. Free parking. Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park - Kids’ Night plus Vintage American Race Cars.  Admission adults $12, (age 16 and up), ages 12-15 $5, ages 7-11 $2, and age 6 and under free. Gates open 4 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 p.m., racing begins at 7:30 p.m. www.portsraceway.com

Jackson County (Ohio) Speedway - AMRA Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw4’s, Mod-Lites, Sport Mods and Stock 4s. Gates open 4 p.m.; 12-inch coolers allowed. Admission $12 adults, $10 seniors, free for children 12 and younger. www.jacksoncospeedway.com
